OpenWHO

OpenWHO is a knowledge-sharing platform established by the World Health Organization (WHO) to provide online courses aimed at enhancing responses to health emergencies. OpenWHO facilitates the dissemination of vital information to a wide audience of frontline responders, alongside the Organization's key partners.

One of the prominent features of OpenWHO is its adaptability, allowing users to engage in learning at their own pace and convenience. Participants can view concise video lectures, assess their understanding through self-tests, and engage with peers and experts worldwide via the course forum and collaborative space.

Primarily tailored for healthcare professionals, frontline responders, and decision-makers, OpenWHO also serves as a valuable resource for individuals impacted by disease outbreaks and health crises, or for those with a general interest in the WHO's initiatives relating to health emergencies.

The platform comprises six specialized channels:

• The 'Outbreak' channel focuses on infectious disease management, delivering critical scientific insights.
• The 'Ready for Response' channel aids in preparing personnel undergoing training for deployment during disease outbreaks and health crises.
• The 'Get Social' channel highlights social science-based interventions and strategies for effective communication with affected communities.
• The 'Preparing for Pandemics' channel offers courses covering various facets of preparedness, including surveillance, public health measures, and risk communication during pandemics.
• The 'COVID-19' channel provides educational resources in WHO's six official languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish) for healthcare practitioners, decision-makers, and the general public concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.
• The 'COVID-19 National Languages' channel offers similar educational materials as the COVID-19 channel but in national languages like Indonesian, Japanese, and Portuguese.

OpenWHO's courses are accessible in multiple languages, including WHO's six official languages. Developed through collaboration between the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) and the World Health Organization (WHO), all educational content is provided exclusively by WHO.
